Kiwifruits

 

Most people enjoy the look of kiwis for their bright green color and velvety exterior but the most amazing thing about kiwis is their health benefits. Although the name Kiwi originates from New Zealand's national symbol, the kiwi fruit is actually native to China where it declared the National Fruit of China. Mass production of kiwis didn't take place until the 1930's but they are now distributed across the world. Italy currently produces 70% of all kiwis around the world.  

 

Benefits of Kiwi

  • Low in Fat and Calories with no Cholesterol 

  • High in Fiber to promote digestive health 

  • High in Vitamin C to improve your immune system 

  • Promotes weight loss 

  • Low sugar content compared to other fruits

  • Contains actinidain, which helps digest a meal much like papain in papaya.

  • Anti-Clotting effects to help prevent heart disease and promote healthy blood flow

 

Tip: At the grocery store, select kiwis that are unblemished and firm but make sure they are not too hard to the touch. Most kiwis last about a week in the kitchen but if you leave them uncut in a plastic bag with a few holes to maintain humidity, the kiwifruits can last a few months in the right conditions.

When we think of garlic, its aromatic smell and cause for bad breath might be the first thing that pops into your mind. But would you be willing to smell a little worse to feel a little better? Yes, garlic may prized for its culinary uses but it also has a number of health benfits:

Yes, that's right, avocados are fruit! Even though avocados are widely considered to be vegtables, it is actually a fruit that tastes like a vetgable.
